Tour de France Party--Sun, July 23, 6AM-9AM
Who will win this year's Tour? Landis? Hincapie? A new face? Come celebrate the last day of the Tour de France in front of a big screen TV and find out. On Sunday, July 23, from 6AM-9AM, Kennedy Fitness and Cambria Bicycle Outfitters will host a TV party as a benefit for the Bicycle Coalition. There will be plenty of coffee, OJ, and delicious muffins to enjoy. Most of all, there will be prizes, including a $100 gift certificate to Cambria Bicycle Outfitters! A $5 donation is requested. All proceeds will benefit the Bicycle Coalition. The party will take place at Kennedy's SLO Multiplex, located at 188 Tank Farm Road. See you there!
SLO Historic Bike Map Hot Off the Press
The SLO County Bicycle Coalition has just published a new map, where you can
take a self-guided tour of historic San Luis Obispo. Explore all of your favorite
historic sites, such as Chinatown, the Railroad District, and the Dallidet
Adobe. Or get to know a few lesser known sites like old Japan Town. Whatever
tickles your fancy, enjoy taking a ride back into the past of this great city.
The new map is available below as a download or from the SLO Chamber of Commerce,
located at 1039 Chorro St. Thanks go to Heritage Shared, the SLO Bicycle Club,
and the City of San Luis Obispo for their support in making the map possible.

Roadwork on Hwy. 227 Near SLO Airport
northbound lane of Hwy 227 (Broad Street) will be closed north of Buckley
Road to south of Fiero Lane beginning June 26 to reconstruct the pavement.
The work will take place from 8:30AM to 3:30PM and is expected to last two
weeks. The bicycle lane on northbound Hwy 227 will be closed during the project.
A sign south of Buckley Road will alert bicyclists of the lane closure and
to use an alternate route.
Valet is Going Strong!
The Bike Valet at SLO Farmers' Market continues to draw dozens of cyclists each week to the corner of Morro and Higuera. We offer FREE safe and convenient bicycle parking as well as friendly service, useful bike information and engaging banter. Come see what your Bike Coalition is up to and learn about other local bike resources. And if you like talking to visitors about how great bicycling in San Luis Obispo County is, volunteer to staff the booth with us! Cycling Skills Course Makes Debut: "The Art of Cycling"
Refine your cycling skills. Ride your bike confidently and safely for
transportation and recreation, in traffic and elsewhere. Learn to
be visible, be predictable, ride between and through intersections,
ride in groups, avoid crashes and falls - and more. The course takes
place over three meetings. The next course is scheduled for Tuesday,
July 11th (6PM-9PM); Tuesday, July 18th (6PM-9PM); and Saturday, July
22nd (8:30AM-noon). Please register in advance. Classes are open
to all cyclists in San Luis Obispo County 16 and older. Bicycles are
necessary only on Saturday. Instructors certified by the League of

Here at the SLO County Bicycle Coalition we are interested in ways
to convince individuals about the benefits of commuting to work. Our
recent Bike Month was a great example of the fun that's involved with
riding a bike. We also offer a series of columns by current board members
